What if you don’t?

What if you don’t achieve that one thing you really desire?

What if it doesn’t turn out exactly how you want it to? or how you thought it would?

These are questions nobody wants to ask, but one’s which we can learn a lot from.

The past week I have asked myself this question every night before bed. I sit at my desk, write “What if you don’t?” on a post-it note, and answer it first thing in the morning.

This idea came from my mindset coach, Joe Rinaldi, as we work together preparing me to bear crawl an ultra marathon. Just like anyone giving every ounce of effort to achieve a dream, I have doubts. Some moments I wonder how I will complete this, and what it will look like if I don’t, but this exercise has given me a ton of peace.

I write this because I want you to feel that same the same peace with whatever you are striving for. I want to relieve you of those doubts if you’ve been wondering if all of your work is worth it. Good news, it is.

So, here are all of my answers. If any resonate with you, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d love to chat about it.

My Answers

I’ll do it again

I’ll still be okay

I’ll still be the same person

Fuck it, I took a risk and dared greatly

I’ll learn from it

I’ll still end up further along than I ever thought I would

Nothing Changes. You’ll Be Okay

What I slowly began to realize is that no matter the outcome, I’m still the same person.

I’m still the person who took a risk.

I’m still the person who ran towards my dream even if I felt fear.

I’m still the person who goes to great lengths to prove we are more capable than we imagine.

The outcome doesn’t change me. It doesn’t change who I am.

And it certainly doesn’t change you.

My point is that no matter what doubts you have, if you are chasing something you love and believe in, failure will never change who you are. What matters is that you are taking a risk, showing up for yourselves as well as others, and making this world a better place. An outcome can’t define you, so never let it deter you from chasing the things you really want. Even if you don’t achieve it, you will still be the same. The only difference is that you will be in a stronger place to tell a better story.

Keep going, I am always here for you.

9 Weeks Out

It’s been a while since I’ve written a blog, but I need to get somewhere outside of my mind and my journal as I close out these final weeks of bear crawl training. My journal holds my daily thoughts, but since I’ll look back on this time quite frequently, I want something more tangible that […]
